1991 - Mean Streak, a wooden coaster from Curtis Summers, opens at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

1991 - Sidewinder, a steel boomerang coaster from Vekoma, opens at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

1992 - Curtis D. Summers, coaster designer famous for wooden roller coasters including Timber Wolf and Texas Giant, dies.

1996 - Wild Thing, a steel hypercoaster from Morgan Manufacturing, opens at Valleyfair! near Minneapolis.

1996 - Bolliger & Mabillard works with Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio to introduce Mantis, which was, at the time, the world's tallest, fastest and steepest stand-up coaster.

1999 - Martin's Fantasy Island in New York introduces the Silver Comet, a wooden coaster from CCI.
